We stayed for two nights, as the lodge wasnt fully booked we got a bigger room with a really nice sea view
The bathroom was new and really nice and... read more clean just as the bedrooms. Breakfast was also lovely. Totally friendly and helpful owner.
Nice kitchen if you wanna make dinner and dont want to eat out. Thank you for this pleasant stay here.
Very close to the town centre and run by a really nice guy. We were down there for a stag weekend and were made to feel very welcome. Showers and... read more toilets were nice and clean and new only 2 years ago. The mattresses are dreadful , though. The building looks to be Victorian and I think the mattresses are a period feature. Hpwever, the owner did say that part of the winter renovations were new mattresses and carpets. Subject to an improvement in sleeping comfort it's definitely a 5 star hostel.

The... read more lodge is clean, well facilitated, and very homely and relaxing. Rob and Lou are perfect hosts and are happy to give local and surf advice. There's good hire options for surf equipment at the lodge. I've had surf lessons with on site surf school (with Lou) which are fantastic and makes planning stress-free. She's a great coach and tailors advice to the individual. Both the lodge and the surf coaching are highly recommended. More

I've stayed at Base Surf Lodge several times over the last few years. It is about a 10 minute walk from Fistral North beach, which is one of the most... read more reliable surf spots in the UK (I think). This, combined with the ability to hire equipment on site, and the collaboration with Big Green Surf School, and having breakfast included really makes it stand out.
It's a basic surf lodge with several bunk bed rooms, so you may end up sharing with others in the peak season, but Rob the friendly owner will often try to give you a room separate from a group where possible. It's got a nice garden out back, which is perfect to eat in on sunny days, like this weekend just past.
There's a Spar and a Sainsbury's nearby, so easy to get some food.Cooking facilities are limited in the lodge, so do bear this in mind. There is also no parking on site, so do plan to spend some time looking for a free spot if you mind paying parking fees.
Overall, a great place that I've come back to time and time again. Do ask about surf and stay packages. More
